Was founded by the Martinez family after working in the South American food industry since the 1970’s. Beginning as Sugar Cane Distributors, the Martinez family came to Los Angeles where they soon realized a demand for the natural produce they grew up with in Colombia. With this demand in mind we decided to establish GAT in Los Angeles in 2007.
Starting GAT as a full service import and export company in Los Angeles, GAT’s founder, Robinson Martinez, realized the importance of providing the freshest exotic products available on the market. Now GAT has grown to have two corporate offices, one in Colombia and one in Los Angeles, reaching both our US clients as well as our Colombian suppliers.

The collectors set off early in groups into the areas surrounding their villages to scrape or pluck off the frankincense resins from the wild trees.
The harvest is from natural exudation, the trees are not cut or tapped in any way as the gum is induced by the chewing activity of beetle larvae or exudes as droplets from the surface of the bark. Therefore, a collector needs to visit a tree only once and after the rains can collect up to 10 kg a day.
